The First Citizens Investment Services Board of Directors are as follows:
Ms Nyree Alfonso (Chairman)
Ms. Nyree Dawn Alfonso is an Attorney-at-Law with more than twenty
(20) years experience. She is admitted to practice law in Trinidad
and Tobago and the Eastern Caribbean Supreme Court.
Ms. Alfonso is a graduate from the University of West Indies where
she obtained a Bachelor of Laws Degree (Hons) in 1987. In 1990 she
obtained a Master of Laws Degree in commercial and corporate law with
emphasis on taxation, commercial credit, security and borrowing and
corporate restructuring/insolvencies from King's College, University of London.
She also obtained a Legal Education Certificate from the Hugh Wooding
Law School in 1989. She was awarded a post graduate diploma (Merit)
in Maritime Law in June 2009 from Lloyd's Maritime Academy/London
Metropolitan University and is currently undertaking a course of study which
will lead to a full LLM in Maritime Law.
Ms. Alfonso serves as a director/corporate secretary to several companies
in the private sector and was a founding member of the Rotary Club of
Maraval and a council member of the St. John Ambulance Association and
Brigade of Trinidad and Tobago.
Mr Larry Howai (Director)
Larry Howai has over 30 years’ experience in the financial
services industry, most of them with First Citizens where
he has been CEO since 1997. Holder of a BSc Economics
(UWI), Mr. Howai is qualified as a Certified Management
Accountant and is a Fellow of the Institute of Banking of
Trinidad and Tobago. He has held directorships in several
companies, and is currently on the Boards of several First
Citizens subsidiaries as well as the National Gas Company
of Trinidad and Tobago Limited, the National Energy Corporation
of Trinidad and Tobago Limited, Guardian Media Limited, St.
Lucia Electricity Services Limited, the Advisory Board of
Habitat for Humanity and the e-Business Roundtable.
Mr Ved Seereeram (Director)
Ved Seereeram is a financial consultant having advised regional
Governments and corporations on capital market transactions,
risk management and credit administration over the last twelve
years. Prior to private consulting Mr. Seereeram worked for
Citibank for eight years and was the Managing Director for
Citicorp Merchant Bank. He was also employed by Scotiabank
for ten years from 1980 where he was in charge of the major
corporate portfolio. Currently Mr. Seereeram also manages a
sixty acre farm comprising sugar cane and timber trees.
Mr. Seereeram holds an MBA from the University of Western
Ontario and a BSc in Business Administration from the
University of the West Indies.
Mrs Shobee Jacelon (Director)
Mrs. Shobee Jacelon, graduated with an Honours Degree in Geography,
followed with a Masters Degree in Information Science and Technology,
out of the University of Western Ontario, London Ontario, 1975-1979.
On returning to Trinidad & Tobago, she worked first as Assistant
Librarian at the University of West Indies Library, followed by a
career at CARIRI (The Caribbean Industrial Research Institute). At
CARIRI, she worked for eight years as an Information Specialist in
disseminating Technical Information to business, government, and
research Institutes, both private & public sector.
Mrs. Jacelon then left to work in the family's jewelry business for
five years, (Maraj Jewellers Ltd), in customer service, human
resources & in marketing.
Over the years, Shobee Jacelon has participated in a number of short
courses particularly in Business entrepreneurship & marketing. She
has also actively participated in three PTA organizations.
Over the last 16 years, Mrs. Jacelon got involved with four
international companies at Executive level, in marketing nutritional
supplements. She has recently set up her own company, Lifestyle
Solutions Ltd; in two mall outlets, where she continually markets
her cutting edge line of products; particularly using Radio, TV,
print media, & through trade events and corporate health seminars.
Ms Marlene Juman(Director)
Marlene Juman was appointed to act as Permanent Secretary
Ministry of Finance on 24 March, 2010.
She entered the Public Service on 2/1/1990 where she served
in the Ministry of Finance, first in the Inland Revenue
Division as a Field Auditor and then as Accountant, Vat
Administration. She later worked with the Treasury Division
as a Treasury Accountant followed by Treasury Director Financial
Management. After a period of 12 years in the Ministry of Finance
she was assigned to the Ministry of Education where she spent
5 years as Deputy Permanent Secretary.
Marlene is an Accountant with qualification in AAT and ACCA and a
Diploma in Human Resource Management and a certificate in Project Management.
She is currently assigned to the Investments Division with responsibilities
for the monitoring of the State Agencies.
She was appointed to the Board of First Citizen Holdings limited and
First Citizens Bank limited on Friday 23 July 2010 and Monday 26 July
2010 respectively.
Ms Sharon Christopher (Director and Corporate Secretary)
Sharon Christopher is currently the Deputy Chief Executive Officer
of the First Citizens Group and has significant experience in the
financial services sector having served at executive management
level in that sector since 1986.
Ms. Christopher’s experience and training is wide-ranging
covering such areas as banking and finance, corporate governance,
negotiation skills, alternative dispute resolution, fraud,
anti-money laundering and leadership development.
Ms. Christopher has held directorships on numerous Boards
including Boards of charitable organizations and currently
sits on the Boards of several First Citizens subsidiaries.
She has delivered several presentations at local and regional
conferences and has also published articles all within her
areas of expertise.
Ms. Christopher is the holder of a Bachelor of Laws Degree
(Upper Second Class Honours) from the University of the West
Indies and the holder of a Master of Laws Degree from the
London School of Economics and Political Science (University
of London). She also holds a Legal Education Certificate from
the Hugh Gooding Law School from which she graduated as the
most outstanding student.
