The new CMMB Board of Directors was formed on 22 May 2009.
They are as follows:
Samuel A. Martin (Chairman)
Mr. Martin brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the Board. He served the government of Trinidad and Tobago as the Director of the Project Financing Unit, Ministry of Finance. He worked as the Managing Director of American Life and General Insurance Company Limited (ALGICO), was the President of the Iron and Steel Company of Trinidad and Tobago (ISCOTT) and most recently the Chief Executive Officer of the Telecommunications Service of Trinidad and Tobago (TSTT). He is currently Chairman of TSTT Limited.
Kirby Anthony Hosang (Director)
Mr. Hosang has thirty years management experience in all
aspects of marketing and business executive development from
both the manufacturing and service industry. In his
professional life he holds the position of Executive
Director of Fine Art Limited and Director of Consolidated
Insurance Consultants Limited, PLIPDECO and Chairman of the
Port Operations Sub Committee and is also a member of the
National Aids Co-ordinating Committee.
Inez B Sinanan (Director)
Ms. Sinanan is the holder of a Masters Degree in Business
Administration from Pace University, New York, U.S.A. since
1981, has been in the general insurance industry for the
past 38 years – 10 of which were in the US. She has served
as the President of the local insurance association, ATTIC,
and remains a Board member of that association. Her
leadership position at ALGICO - a member of the American
International Group, Inc - for the past 24 years has served
that organization well locally and regionally in the Latin
American Division. Currently, as the Senior Vice President
at ALGICO she serves on its Board of Directors and is also a
member of the Board of Directors of the National Insurance
Board of Trinidad & Tobago where she chairs the Audit
Committee.
Michael Allan Andrew Quamina (Director)
Mr. Quamina is an Attorney-at-Law, he was called to the Bar
in Trinidad and Tobago in 1999 and is at present attached to
Chancery Chambers. He brings with him a wealth of experience
in Public Administrative Law, Industrial Relations Law,
Insurance Law, Contract Law and the law with respect to the
confiscation of assets under the Proceeds of Crime
legislation. Mr. Quamina is the Chairman of Gold Coast
Distributors Limited, Coffee Express Limited and Pure 1
Caribbean Limited.
Larry Howai (Director)
Mr. Howai is currently the Chief Executive Officer of the
First Citizens Group, one of the leading financial
institutions in Trinidad & Tobago and has 30 years
experience in the financial services industry.
In addition to his substantive position, he is a director of
the First Citizens Trust and Asset Management Limited, First
Citizens Securities Trading Limited, First Citizens (St.
Lucia) Limited, Trinidad Publishing Company Limited and St.
Lucia Electricity Services Limited. He has also held
directorships on the boards of several major companies in
Trinidad and Tobago, including the Trinidad and Tobago Unit
Trust Corporation, the Home Mortgage Bank, the Power
Generation Company of Trinidad and Tobago and the
Environmental Management Authority. He is also a director of
the United Way of Trinidad and Tobago, Habitat for Humanity
and serves on the Finance and General Purposes Committee of
the University of the West Indies. Mr. Howai was named most
admired CEO in Trinidad and Tobago in 2003 and is also a
former President of the Bankers’ Association of Trinidad &
Tobago.
Mr. Howai attended the University of the West Indies where
he obtained his BSc in Economics. He later qualified as a
Certified Management Accountant and is a Fellow of the
Institute of Banking of Trinidad and Tobago.
Sharon Christopher (Director)
Ms. Christopher has been Deputy Chief Executive Officer of
First Citizens since 2007. An Attorney-at-Law (Masters of
Laws, London School of Economics and Political Science) and
qualified Legal Educator (Hugh Wooding Law School), she was
previously the Senior General manager, Legal and Corporate
Administration, having joined the Bank from one of its
forerunners, Workers; Bank (1989) Limited, where she has
served as legal counsel since 1989. Her experience and
training is wide-ranging, covering such areas as corporate
governance, negotiation skills, alternative dispute
resolution, fraud and anti-money laundering. She has held
directorships on numerous public and private sector boards,
notable in the energy sector, as well as charitable boards,
and currently sits on the boards of several First Citizens
subsidiaries.
